Survey of Gifted Education
The focus of this course is on intellectual giftedness, its description, characteristics and the nature of such gifts and talents in the elementary and secondary school setting. This course examines changes in definition, the controversy over characteristics, and a discussion of the causes and prevalence rates of giftedness. It also examines the assessment process, and product and process measures, including reflective assessment. The course concludes by examining benefits and concerns with inclusion and collaboration along with a description of some excellent program options being utilized in today?s schools and communities. * NOTE - Payment for TIDE/USF courses is a two-step process. The FIRST STEP is to register with TIDE and pay your registration fee. The SECOND STEP is to complete your registration with USF and pay the balance of your course fee. The link to the USF registration will be located in the “Additional Information” section of the TIDE registration form. You will NOT HAVE ACCESS to the course until you complete BOTH steps of this registration. It is requested that you complete both portions of the registration at least one month before the course start date.
