Sorting Facts from Fiction: How to Respond to Misinformation in the Current Culture Wars
Participants will identify common misperceptions about the role of public education in developing and renewing a democratic society as well as research and strategies to engage in productive conversations to address misinformation. Participants will engage with information from constitutional law experts to learn about legal vulnerability when it comes to issues of academic freedom of educators in the classroom. Participants will identify germane issues in their own school community and develop a plan of action to proactively address questions and concerns of faculty, staff and community partners. The breakdown for this academy is three hours asynchronous, three hours virtual, and one hour for dissemination plan.
