Course # AA1666.2

Leveraging School Leader Expertise to Support Organizational Change - Middle School Principal Collaborative
This course will introduce practicing school leaders to the use of the medical concept of instructional round as members of a school leaders' standards based co-hort for the purpose of solving authentic site-based problems in their schools. The academy requires a pre-activity viewing of a TED TALK on the internet and writing a reflection using a presenter-provided guide sheet. Illinois School Leader Standard 3 - Teaching and Learning - will be investigated using this model. Co-horts will be comprised of 8-12 members whose schools share similar characteristics - grade-spans, demographics, enrollment, or challenges. Participants will learn about the medical model and how it can be used in the district setting to identify and help to solve system challenges. Participants will work together to identify strategies, develop tools and solve problems identified in the instructional round process. A school visitation by cohort to member districts is a required activity to complete the application-dissemination component of this academy.
