Informed Action through Service Learning - The Guardians of Democracy Gold Guardian Educator Badge

This course builds upon the content of the CIVICS Silver - Badge III - IASL course. In this course, participants will further delve into how to create a classroom climate in which there are equitable opportunities for ALL students to engage in service learning to address essential questions across the curriculum. Participants will use course tools to engage student voices to reflect on the practice of informed action through service learning to co-create learning targets for student growth. Participants engage in an instructional coaching cycle over 6 weeks, using Free For Teachers Canvas, to create, edit, implement and reflect on a service learning plan of action. This is the third in a series of three courses on the use of informed action through service learning in the classroom. Participants who complete this course all and earn their gold badge can apply for 1 graduate credit through the University of St. Francis USF for an additional fee and by completing a culminating assignment provided by USF.
