Early Childhood New Hire Program
This course is intended for early childhood teachers that have been hired this school year or last. Four professional development sessions will be provided over a period of 6 months by STAR NET staff. Each session will build background of teachers in the following areas: Developmentally Appropriate Practices, Social Emotional Learning and Pyramid Behavior Model, Working with parents and dealing with difficult situations and Choice- this session will be built based on the identified needs of participants. Approximately two weeks after each professional development session, participants will participate in collaboration sessions which will allow them time to implement strategies they have learned in the professional development session and process with other participants to share their experience and raise questions. This session will be facilitated by Sharon Frys, DuPage Regional Office of Education. In summary, staff will participate in four - one hour professional development sessions and four-one hour collaboration groups to total eight hours of participation.
