Toying with STEM
Target Audience: All STEM-related educators will benefit from this workshop with emphasis on elementary and middle school grade levels. Students’ natural interest in toys motivates students to want to learn and play while they investigate how a toy demonstrates STEM-related principles. In this Inquiry-based class, participants will apply problem-solving skills as they study STEM principles that go into the exploration, engineering, and construction of toys to create testable questions, devise experiments, and investigate STEM concepts such as energy transfer, balance, magnetism/electricity, motion/forces, and optical illusions to see how toys connect to our everyday experiences!
